INTRODUCTION

In keeping with Mark's style, the notes are usually brief –

The introductory synopsis and the general tenor of the notes are largely the result of fresh inquiry in two series of readings, many years apart.

The title was suggested by that of the landmark series of readings with J.T. on 2 Corinthians –

J. N. Darby, J. B. Stoney, F. E. Raven, C. A. Coates and James Taylor Sr. – beloved servants of the Lord – have helped me greatly as to all the Scriptures "What hast thou which thou hast not received?", 1 Corinthians 4: 7.

Mark presents the Lord Jesus as the model Servant, the great Man of action and tireless devotion.

All who desire to follow and to serve Him are urged to search Mark's gospel itself in dependence on the Spirit – not merely read these notes.

May any who take up this search be

Gordon A. Rainbow.
